Welcome to our website. The purpose of this physician supported site is to educate you about the science and philosophy of fasting.
Fasting can have profound effects on your body, mind, and spirit.
A sensible practice of fasting means far more than just going without food for a set period of time. As the graphic to the right illustrates, we believe the practice of fasting encompasses thoughtful nourishment and a regularly planned schedule of activity. This appropriately manages the physiological stress (the stress to your body) that occurs during the process.
This “philosophy” is based on both a careful review of the existing literature as well as first hand experience. A balanced perspective on fasting recognizes that for some it can be an instrumental part of a healthy lifestyle. It must also be recognized that true fasting is not for everyone.
